GOLF DAY LAUNCHED

The 2015 Charity Celebrity Golf Day at Lakeside Golf Club at Garthmyl near Newtown has officially been launched and will take place on Sunday 13th September.

This is the third year the event has been held with over £3,000 being raised for Marie Curie in the first two years. This year's event will see an even bigger number of celebrities taking part and the monies raised split between Marie Curie and the Bob Champion Cancer Trust.

Following the golf a roast dinner is had by all participants followed by prize presentation and entertainment. Last year the after dinner entertainment was provided by snooker star Dennis Taylor, comedians Tucker Chance and Stan Boardman and singer Paul Dark.

Organisers are looking for individuals or businesses to support the event by sponsoring a hole or celebrity guest, donating team prizes or items for the auction.

Looking to keep fit why not volunteer to be a caddy and get yourself sponsored in aid of two great cancer charities.

SNOOKER STAR CONFIRMS

Snooker Star Dennis Taylor has confirmed that he will be playing in the Marie Curie Golf Day on Sunday

14th September at Lakeside and will be part of the after dinner entertainment.

Dennis Taylor (born Denis Taylor, 19 January 1949 in Coalisland, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland) is a retired snooker player, and current BBC snooker commentator. Winner of two ranking events, he is best known for winning the1985 World Championship, beating World number one Steve Davis on the final black in one of the sport's most memorable finals. He also won the Grand Prixin 1984 and the Masters in 1987. Taylor is also well known for his sense of humour and his trademark oversized spectacles. He regularly made appearances on the snooker based gameshow Big Break.

VENUE CHANGE

Please note that due to works taking place on the greens etc and the Newtown course closed this event has been switched to the Lakeside Golf Club at Garthmyl, mid way between Welshpool & Newtown.
